Step 1

Darken shadowed foliage (behind head)

Step 2

Darken bright green foliage (above windowsill)

Step 3

Lighten face

Step 4

Enhance reds in shirt

Step 5

Add more contrast to face

Step 6

Shift highlights to cool

After step 6 to finish off the portrait, I'd either throw on a vignette or bring on a layer to darken the blotches on the left somewhat, but that's out of scope for a Brenda demo.
