Marlene is a bookbinder and calligrapher whose art form combines her love of the written word with the beauty of a hand bound book. Borrowing from the visual arts and sculpture her handmade books provide an inspiring place for personal writings, art or treasured items from life. A relationship is forged between the tactile materials in the bindings and the collectors’ writings or artwork. Whether writing, sketching or painting, ideas take shape within the covers of these fine bindings and boxes. Marlene creates one of a kind treasures with an inspiring array of paper, cloth and leather.
Member of Royal City Calligraphy Guild, Hamilton Calligraphy Guild, Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild, and Guild of Bookworkers.
