Print Features

Size and Resolution

Prints are made from the original high resolution (generally 10 megapixels, sometimes more) image, which is already stored on the server awaiting your order. Even at the large poster size, it's unlikely you'll see any resolution artifacts (pixels) without a magnifying glass.

No Watermark

Your print will not be watermarked (e.g. "copyright sean m puckett"). The back of the print will have my name written on it, so you remember where you got the print.

Lustre Finish

My prints (except for the 30x40 poster) are produced with a finish called "lustre." This combines the best features of glossy and matte finish. Lustre has deep blacks and rich colours like gloss prints, but doesn't have the room reflections that gloss prints do. The 30x40 poster is available only in Gloss because the equipment that can produce that size of print doesn't accept Lustre media.

Fulfillment

When you proceed through the shopping cart system, you will be using the "SmugMug" service. When you place your order, the image data files are transmitted electronically to the print house and imaged by laser onto photographic paper, developed, carefully packaged, then shipped directly to you.

Calibration

Unlike almost all other print houses, my vendor calibrates their equipment regularly to known standards -- and my graphics workstation uses the same standards. You will get the same image I got when I said it was "done."

Signature

Unfortunately, I can't sign these prints as they never come anywhere near me on their route from the lab to your door. If you'd like a signed print, please contact me directly.

Ordering Notes

Things to think about as you go through the order process.

Cropping

Prints are made only in standard sizes by the lab. If the image is an odd size (and many of mine are), you have a choice: Crop the image to fit a standard size, or shrink the image to fit that size.

Crop

Cropping the image results in loss of some of the image. If you want your print to fit a certain size frame, crop it to fit the print size of your frame. SmugMug's cart lets you adjust the crop area yourself. You may want to hunt around in the menus to find the best match of print size for the particular image.

No-Crop (Shrink)

Shrinking the image results in the addition of two white (unprinted) bars to make it fit a standard size. If you want to see the entire image and don't mind a custom mat/frame, choose No-Crop in SmugMug's shopping cart. You can cut the bars off, or hide them behind a mat.
